Export Restrictions for Vehicles

To ensure safety and compliance, certain vehicle types cannot be exported or are subject to restrictions. Please review these guidelines before bidding or arranging shipping.

1. Damaged Electric & Hybrid Vehicles (EVs)

Ocean carriers apply strict rules for lithium battery vehicles.

  • Severely damaged electric or hybrid vehicles are not accepted for export.
  • Vehicles with damage to the battery area are considered high-risk and may be rejected by ocean carriers or transit ports
  • Flood-damaged electric or hybrid vehicles are not accepted under any circumstances
  • Only EVs or hybrid vehicles with minor damage may be eligible for shipment

You must carefully review the vehicle condition before bidding.

2. Hybrid & Electric Vehicles from Hawaii (Temporary Suspension)

Shipping electric and hybrid vehicles from Hawaii is currently suspended due to carrier and operational constraints.

  • This restriction applies to all EV and hybrid shipments from Hawaii
  • Other vehicle types are not affected
  • Service will resume when carrier conditions allow

3. Flood-Damaged EVs & Hybrids

  • Flood-damaged electric and hybrid vehicles are not accepted
  • This restriction applies to all locations

Carriers classify these vehicles as high-risk due to potential battery instability.

4. Electric / Plug-in Hybrid Vehicles from Alaska

Additional carrier restrictions may apply.

  • Approval must be confirmed before bidding
  • Some vehicles may not be eligible for shipment

5. Special Vehicle Restrictions

The following vehicles are not accepted for export:

  • Vehicles marked as “POLICE” (based on title, bill of sale, or vehicle details)
  • Vehicles equipped with internal cages

6. Safety Recall Restrictions

The following vehicles are restricted due to active safety recalls:

  • 2022–2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz
  • 2019–2023 Hyundai Santa Fe
  • 2021–2023 Santa Fe Hybrid

You understand that AutoBidMaster makes no representation regarding a vehicle’s potential flood or other damage and that it is your responsibility to research and inspect the vehicle before its purchase. What an ocean carrier determines as “severely damaged” may be different than what the auction or you believe is “severely damaged”. You understand you bear the risk that the ocean carrier determines that your vehicle is flood damaged, “severely damaged”, or falls within any of these or similar situations, and cannot be transported via ocean carrier.
